New study reveals gig economy is alive and thriving in the hospitality industry with nearly 76% of hotels using contractors for senior hires
Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 224,000 in June, and the unemployment rate was little changed at 3.7 percent. Notable job gains occurred in professional and business services, in health care, and in transportation and warehousing.
Jobless rates were lower in April than a year earlier in 306 of the 389 metropolitan areas, higher in 57, and unchanged in 26. Nonfarm payroll employment was up in 46 metropolitan areas over the year and essentially unchanged in 343.
Total nonfarm payroll employment edged up in May (+75,000), and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent. Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services and in health care.
