Global Air Freight Demand Up 9% in 2017, Strongest Growth Since 2010
Full-year 2017 demand grew by more than double the 3.6% annual growth recorded in 2016
Global air freight markets show that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), climbed 8.8% in November 2017 compared to the year-earlier period. This was an increase from the 5.8% annual growth recorded in October 2017
Global air freight markets show that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), rose 5.9% in October 2017 compared to the year-earlier period. A slowdown from the annual growth recorded in September 2017 but still exceeded the growth rate over the past decade.
IATA announced global passenger traffic results for September 2017 which showed that demand (RPKs) rose 5.7% compared to the same month in 2016. This was the slowest year-on-year increase since February.
