September Global Air Freight Demand Slows Slightly but Still Up 9.2%
IATA released data for global air freight markets in September 2017 showing that demand (measured in FTKs), rose 9.2% compared to 2016.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects 7.8 billion passengers to travel in 2036, a near doubling of the 4 billion air travelers expected to fly this year. The prediction is based on a 3.6% average Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) noted in the release of the latest update to the associations 20-Year Air Passenger Forecast.
IATA announced industry performance statistics for 2016 showing that airlines carried 3.8 billion passengers on scheduled services last year. This information is included in the 2017 edition of the IATA World Air Transport Statistics (WATS), the yearbook of the airline industrys performance.
