  • Distinguished International(R) Hotels, Residences and Resorts Distinguished International(R) Hotels, Residences and Resorts is pleased to welcome Mathew Griffin, Hotel Manager and his team at Sir Christopher Wren's House Hotel and Spa, as the latest member of the Distinguished(R) portfolio of international properties.

Set in the heart of Royal Windsor, beneath the ramparts of Windsor Castle at Eton Bridge and directly on the banks of the River Thames, it was the original family home of the great British architect, Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723). First converted into a hotel in the 1920s, it underwent many additions by its various owners until it was purchased by Goran Strok in 1996, who meticulously restored it to maintain its historical heritage while providing some needed upgrades.

Today, this beautiful 4-star hotel features 96 traditional and contemporary rooms: most of which are found in the Main house while the others are spread among 4 historical annexes. Many original pieces can still be seen throughout the hotel including a large alabaster fireplace, thick stone walls, oak doors, wood-panelled rooms and large sash windows.

Integrating contemporary components to seamlessly blend with the historical features, has been elegantly mastered throughout with a three level gymnasium, state-of-the-art spa and treatment facilities, 12 meetings rooms equipped with the latest technologies, along with their riverside award-winning Strok's Restaurant, recipient of 2 AA Rosettes.

Their privileged location provides guests a base from which to explore Windsor Castle, the Thames Valley, take a guided tour of the world famous Eton College, attend a polo game at Smiths Lawns, spend a day at Windsor or Royal Ascot Racecourses or bring the family to Legoland Windsor, 150 acres of parkland offering rides, shows and attractions for all ages.

'Finding like-minded hoteliers doesn't happen that easily, ' explains Mathew Griffin, General Manager of Sir Christopher Wren's. ' So when I met Bill (Burruss, President of Distinguished(R)) and Paul (Follows, Director of European Development), I liked their concept right away of marketing independent hotels that are unique to their area. And that is precisely what Wren's is known for. '

'Windsor Castle is one of those historical landmarks that will always be a popular destination, ' Bill Burruss, President of Distinguished(R) Hotels. 'To provide such an exquisite hotel to our Distinguished(R) traveler who wishes to visit the area - we couldn't be happier. Sitting back in one their Chesterfield leather chairs, or on the terrace watching the swans glide along the Thames, Wren's has managed to create so many areas where the guest is welcome to simply enjoy the setting at their leisure. It is the kind of hotel where people want to return again and again. '
